Winning Start for Whitehead after Promotion

Whitehead carried on where they left off after gaining promotion to League East 3 B. Our roving reporter, and District Clubman of the Year, Dai Hards, was there to give his usual report:- The game kicked off in very good conditions and both sides were playing good open rugby. Whitehead made a few good breaks but, due to some poor handling, did not get any reward. After some good handling amongst the forwards, Dave Mulroy scored a try in the corner , but failed with the conversion. Whitehead were putting Hafodrynys under a lot of pressure but the Rams held firm. Right on half time after a break and some good handling, the Rams scored a try under the posts which was converted. They went into the half time break with a 7 - 5 lead.

Whitehead started the second half well, and after some good handling were rewarded with a try by Jamie Harris which was converted by Jacob Proctor. This was quickly followed by a Try for Tom Ireland which was also converted by Jacob Proctor. The Rams started to come back into the game through their forwards, and after a long period of pressure and a good drive by their pack, were rewarded with a try in the corner which was not converted. Whitehead started to throw the ball around a bit more, and after some good handling, prop Dai Evans scored a try which was converted by Jacob Proctor. The Rams came back into the game, and after some good handling and driving by the pack, the scored another try, but failed to convert it. They then converted a penalty shortly after, making for an uncomfortable scoreline for Whitehead coaches, players and travelling support. Whitehead made a break away shortly after the restart, and some good handling saw Jamie Harris go over for his second try, but it wasn't converted. The Rams never gave up and put pressure on the Whitehead defense for the final moments of the game, but the defense held firm for Whitehead to give a final score of Hafodrynys 20 - Whitehead 31.
