Bonus Point win against the Men of Stone secures top League position

Whitehead secured a much needed bonus point win against a combative Trefil side at home. Trefil travelled with a coach full of supporters and applied early pressure which resulted in a penalty on the Whitehead 22, but was not converted. Whitehead replied with their own pressure. It took a breakthrough after 18 minutes by Mike Bush near the line to feed Lewis David for a try to open the scoring. Llyr Davies converted to make it 7-0. Further pressure by Whiteheads resulted in two penalties which were not converted. A breakthrough by Matt Dodderidge after 35 minutes resulted in a converted try to make it 14-0 at half time. Whitehead applied early pressure in the second half which resulted in a well worked try after 5 minutes for Llyr Davies, which he converted, to make it 21-0. Mike Bush then secured the bonus point 7 minutes later with a good carry where he had ample opportunity to pass, but managed to force his way over, much to the disappointment of the three people outside him! The remaining 20 minutes proved to be frustrating for the Eddz with a good performance by Trefil back row and the introduction of replacements combining to see no further scores. With a final score of 28 - 0, the match was watched by former Whitehead player Aaron Wainright who had returned from Ireland after playing for the Dragons against Munster on Friday evening. The Eddz now look forward to their next fixture against Trinant, where the coaches have the luxury of a fully fit squad in their quest for promotion.
