Whitehead Through to Round 3 of WRU Bowl

From our Roving reporter, Dai Hards:-

Gwernyfed started well and put Whitehead under pressure. This resulted in Gwernyfed being awarded a penalty which they kicked. Whitehead were still under pressure but the defence was holding up very well. Whitehead put in some good attacking play which ended in a try from Euan Cox which was not converted. This was followed by a penalty which was kicked by Matt Doderidge. Whitehead were now playing some very good open rugby which was rewarded with another try for Euan Cox which was not converted. Whitehead were now putting Gwernyfed under a lot of pressure which ended in a well deserved try for Dai Evans just before half time which was not converted.

Half Time Whitehead 18 Gwernyfed 03

Gwernyfed started the second half well and were again putting Whitehead under a lot of pressure. However Whitehead were defending very well then had a good breakout which resulted in a try for Lee Cox which was not converted. Gwernyfed were now putting Whitehead under intense pressure which eventually resulted in a try which was converted. Gwernyfed continued to attack the Whitehead line who defended very well but eventually after a concerted effort by the Gwernyfed pack the referee awarded Gwernyfed a penalty try for persistant infringing. Whitehead started to get back into the game and were rewarded with a penalty kicked by Jacob Procter. They then ran in another try after an excellent backs move which was scored by Matt Doderidge. It was not converted. Gwernyfed kept attacking the Whitehead line right to the very end but Whitehead held out.
