Whitehead RFC won the final of the Newport & District Rugby Plate final with the last play of the game against our local rivals Newport Saracens at Risca RFC ground on 9th May. The score was 19 - 14 to Sarries with minutes left when the Eddz made an attacking break and were camped on the Sarries line. There were several infringements by Sarries which produced a yellow card. Then when a quick tap penalty was taken with a 3 man overlap, the Sarries infringed yet again which led the referee to award a penalty try to draw level. The conversion sealed the victory and time was blown by the ref which led to scenes of jubilation by the Eddz fans and dispair from Sarries fans. A great game!
