The last game of the season for Whitehead RFC saw them clinch the League Title for the first time in their history, in what was a very fraught occasion for players, coaches and fans. As usual, our very own roving reporter, Dai Hards, was there to give his match report:-
Whitehead RFC v Trinant RFC
The game kicked off on a very sunny day. Trinant were very strong at the scrum and were making problems for the Whitehead scrum. After a long period of presssure Trinant scored a try which was converted. Whitehead then began to pass the ball quickly and after a break were close to the Trinant line when Trinant conceded a penalty which was converted by Llyr Davies. This was followed by a drop goal by Llyr Davies. Trinant were still causing problems for the Whitehead scrum and after a series of scrums on the Whitehead line Trinant scored a try which was converted.
Half time

The second half started and Whitehead quickly scored a penalty converted by Llyr Davies. Trinant replied with a try which was not converted. Whitehead started to throw the ball around and Trinant began to struggle to keep pace with Whitehead. After a flowing move by the Whitehead backs prop Dai Evans crashed over in the corner for a try which was converted by Llyr Davies. This was then followed by another attack by Whitehead which resulted in a try scored by John Farrugia which was converted by Llyr Davies. This was followed by a penalty which was scored by Llyr Davies.
