The Eddz felt a little unlucky at the home of New Panteg. It was the first game for the visitors with a full scrum in which they were second best to New Panteg. With the Head coach Chris Cornford absent on international duties, team selection for coaches Mike Griffiths and Richy Jones was affected by marriages and injuries, which meant that Whitehead were unable to field their strongest side. The game was tight though with New Panteg having most of the possession and territory in the first half which saw them lead 10 - 0 at half time with a converted try and Penalty. Whitehead got their game together in the second half with a few enforced substitutions which saw them turn the tables with possession and territory, but still struggling in the scrum. Pressure told on the home side as a yellow card was given for constant infringement and then a great individual effort by Craig Lloyd meant the Eddz were back in the game to make it 10 - 7, however, after the restart the home side regained possession and worked a clever backs move for their number ten to go in under the posts, which was converted to make it 17 - 7. Whitehead maintained the pressure which resulted in another yellow card for the home side and the ensueing penalty was converted by Llyr Davies to make it 17 - 10. The home side managed to keep the visitors out for the last ten minutes, and when the Eddz thought they had scored a try in the corner the ref brought the move back for another infringement. End result was 17 - 10 which meant the Eddz salvaged a bonus point.
